Archiving Custom Fields

Hi Experts,

 

I am new to the archiving object and Many queries coming up on which I have a limited answers and could not proceed without clarifications for these.

As per my current understanding an Archiving object picks data from different tables

 

1. IF an object AO1 has TABLE1 ( Field 1A,Field 1B, Field 1C)  and TABLE 2 (Field 2A,Field 2B, Field 2C) mapped . When AO1 is archived based on the logic AO1 will archive TABLE1( Field 1A Filed 1B  -- possibility that not field1 C) and Table 2 ( Field 2A, possibility that not Field 2B , Field 2C) .

 

Is my understanding correct that only Field 1A,Field 1B , Field 2A and Field 2C will be archived and not Field1 C & Field 2B

 

 

2.  If my undestanding of point 1 is correct ,DB15 gives the list of tables under an archive object but how can we know the list of fields from each table in an archiving object?

 

3. AOBJ shows an option to exclude the list of tables for deletion from an archive object is there any option to display those fields in an archive object?

4. There are custom fields (Append structures) in table VBAK. When SD_VBAK archive object is archived how can the custome fields can be included for archive.Custom tables yes separate archive object has to be created but what about the custom fields in the standard table

Archived data retrieval

Hi Experts,

 

Regarding the retrieval of archived data I have few queries, could you kindly provide your inputs.

 

1. The read program from SARA does it reads only the fields those got archived? this question arised because we have archived one object and when we tried to read the archived data using read program in SARA it displayed only 3 fields. While the orginal sales order document has many fields does that mean all the feilds in sales order was not archived??

2. Only few t-codes display the archived data directly like FB03. However for most of the tcodes to retrive the archived data SAP says to use SARI. However how does the end business users will be able to retrieve data if they need archived data? giving access to SARI is not possible for the end users and to display the data as well from SARI, we need to create the info structures..but info structures occupy space and again these structures can have varied column feilds rght? how the access to end users will be provided??

Archiving - RSSELDONE is flagged as archived but not deleted?

Hi All,

 

Kindly ask your help with regards to data archiving.

 

This archiving is about BW Log data e.g. RS*DONE.

After writing archived data to file, subsequently deletion process is run.

 

But it doesn't delete data in table RSSELDONE, because I'm still able to see the data there. However, I can see there is 1 column in RSSELDONE named ARCHIVED. This column is flagged with 'X'.

 

My Question is whether this is normal behaviour from archiving?

Or How to delete data physically from RSSELDONE table?

 

Since if the records are not deleted from RSSELDONE means the size of RSSELDONE table doesn't change.

 

Kindly ask your clue about this .

Info structures not active while archiving SD_VBAK

Hi!

Could anybody help me with a situation, where the info structures for archiving object SD_VBAK (others also) where not activated in production system, and the needed tables were not created and archiving job has run. We are not able to access the archived sales orders, not in ALO1 or VA03 etc. I know they have been archived but we can't see them. I have now activated the infostructures:

SAP_SD_VBAK_001
SAP_SD_VBAK_002

and also SAP_VBAK_ERDAT (is this needed also?)

But still we can't see the archived orders in ALO1 or VA03.

I think I should also use the action Fill structures, but can anyone tell me would this action help me, would this action done afterwards create the needed tables for accessing the archive?

 

Or is our only option in this situation to try to retrieve the archived sales orders? I know SAP doesn't' recommend this.

I greatly appreciate any help!

Read program/option not available

Hi Experts,

 

Some of the Archiving Objects does not have a read option in SARA. Once the archiving object is written ( after completion of the write program), how can we validate the archived objects before deletion happens.

 

1. We will be able to access from SARI\SARE only after deletion program completion

2. But we cannot delete data from database before confirmation of the archived data.

Please provide your valuable inputs

Variants creation for Data archiving Object

Can we create multiple variants for a single archiving object program?

if we create multiple variants  , we have to run the archive job multiple times ? when it is run multiple times how can we manage the reading of archiving files ??

Archiving CO_ORDER

Hi Experts,

 

I´m checking archiving object CO_ORDER,  because I want to archive this object,  I retrieve all records on AUFK with order type 01,02,03,04,05 and 06, but just appears 60 records,  the question is where is stored the head of cost orders?  Can you please recommend me links with detailed documentation?  thanks for your help,  happy day.

Legal hold without SAP ILM

I'm trying to figure out how can we put a legal hold on data that has been archived without using ILM, We currently do not have SAP ILM. Is there a way to find the archive files that would contain the data that needs to be put on a legal hold?

 

Any ideas on this topic will be highly appreciated.

A little more about the archive setup to provide better context:
Archive files are stored in a NAS filesystem managed by the IBM CommonStore. Archive process usually is --> WRITE->STORE->DELETE.

AM_ASSET & CO_ORDER

We are using AM_Asset object for archival operation.

Archival operation is successful without doing archival for CO_order object also.

Can someone let me know in what all cases my logic will fail?

I mean to ask what all scenarios are related to asset and co order tables.

AM_ASSET & PS_Project

We are using AM_Asset module archival operation. I believe only for AUC assets archival we need to archive PS_Project module.

Even if I don’t go for PS_Project object archival my AUC deactivated are archived and deleted from ANLA table.

Can someone let me know what is the advantage of going for PS_project archival if my scope only includes AM_Asset module.

CDART vs Standard DART

Hello all,

 

We implemented PBS's CDART addon way back in our 46C days.  I was not part of the original implementation team, so I do not know the reasons for choosing this route.  To be honest not much archiving was done with it at the time, and what was done has long passed the residence period.  Those archive files still reside on our file system.  We have been on ECC 6 now for some time and we're looking to resurrect the archiving effort. 

 

My question is, does anyone know what the benefits of the CDART tool are over the standard DART functionality in an ECC 6 system?  All this time we've paid maintenance for support on an addon that we've really haven't used.  So if there is no compelling reasons (which may have existed back in the 46C days, but not now), then I'd like to make a clean break from it before we restart the archiving effort.

Hello Experts,

 

We have to begin one archiving project in an ECC environment. Apart from the in-house templates, I would like to understand any standard template or guideline document available which will help create the project plan or begin the project.

 

Some background info is as below:

 

1. System has never undergone archiving before

2. Possibility to have huge DB size

3. Target to have Top 20 objects. Highest & Fastest Growing

4. Performance  optimization is also a concern

5. Housekeeping and custom archiving object creation is also going to be the part of this project

Store data from different SAP system in ILM?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to import data from one SAP system into ILM on a different SAP system? My company is buying another company and wants to store historical financial data from the other company's SAP system.  On top tof this it is only a subset of data not the whole lot.

Retrival of Data to database after running preprocessing for crm_serord

HI,

    i used a custom program to close the open service orders,which meet some custom criteria.,i.e, in crmd_order_h and crm_jest tables i manually modified the archiving_flag and status fields for service orders.and submitted those to sara for write ,store and delete.now i have some service orders which has gone through my custom program and having archive_flag=X.but not deleted by sara.now i want to get back those orders to database ,as they are required by business activities.so,i unflagged the fields to space in the crmd_order_h and crm_jest tables.but now i cant able to edit these orders.the change/display is not active.how to make it active or enable editing for these orders.kindly help.

Lifecycle Manager XI 3.1 SP3 Installation Issues

BO Platform: Business Objects XI 3.1 SP3

 

I installed LCM XI 3.1 SP1 without any issues. I was able to use it too when promoting universes. However, I have been unable to promote Users or Folders. Hence I uninstalled SP1 and installed SP3 Full Build. I did not have problems installing the application. However, when I tried to login to LCM, it went straight to a white blank page with:

 

Sorry, LCM application is unable to process your request.

 

Any thoughts?

Archiving Object RV_LIKP

We are using the write program S3LIKPWRS.

We have a count from LIKP for specific delivery types we want to archive for a specified date range that is past the residency period specified in customizing - we have specified * for SOrg and Delv types and 395 for residency.

However, when we execute the archiving program (for specific delv types) the log reports to have processed a far smaller number of records than we expected from LIKP.

Please note that the records processed (job log counts) are NOT affected by what is checked in the 'Options' selections of the program.

Any ideas why the program is reading fewer records than anticipated?

PR disappearing from system when PM Order is archived

Hello,

 

We are doing an archiving project in which we are archiving PM & CS orders and the linked PRs (PRs generated from PM/CS orders). For archiving PRs system mandates that the PM order should be archived first. But when we archive the PM orders using object PM_ORDER is SARA, the PRs disappear form the system. The entries get deleted form EBAN. This would have been okay, but the problem is that the archived PRs are no longer visible in ALO1, SARE or ME53N-the transactions that show archived PRs.

 

My expectation is that, once the Maintenance order is archived, the PR should be ready for archiving but it should not get deleted form EBAN. Rather we are ready to execute the object MM_EBAN and archive the PRs.
