Assiging ILM objects

Experts,

 

I am consufed a bit and need your help.

 

I created an audit aread using process Audit area and assigned few archiving objects to it.  Then i went to ILM policies  entered policy category,object category,Aduit area(used the same audit area that we just created). Here is something that i tried different, In ILM Object section i selected the object other than what assigned to the audit area we just created. The question i have here is what is the different between  " when i assigned ILM objects the archiving objects  in ILM policies  for the same audit area" and the archiving object that i assigned earlier to the same audit area. How these two things differ.

 

Not sure if i have been able to explain my dobut very clearly. Let me know if i need to rephrase it.

RM06EV47 Vs RM06EV70

Hi,

 

In our SAP system, in transaction AOBJ, archiving object MM_EKKO has Write program as RM06EW70 and Delete program as RM06ED70. But Preprocessing program maintained is still old RM06EV47 in the transaction AOBJ. My question is - should i change this program to RM06EV70 in transaction AOBJ. If yes, then how? I mean should i simply change the program name in AOBJ in Development system and transport to Production? Or are there any more settings to be done?

DB/table/index reorg after archiving

Hi All,

I am starting this dicussion on  reorg as it relates to Archiving.

Post archiving , it is recommended to do a reorg.

Usuallly it is done at table or index level by the DBA's /Basis teams.

 

following are some points for discussion .

 

1. what are the tasks of archiving team in the reorg activity and how can they help the DBA , Basis team on the reorg?

2. are there any real time examples that some one can share on a reorg task. it could be ex: FI_DOCUMNT archiving followed by reorg of the tables related to this object.

 

3. it is recommended that if the tables are expected to grow again , then reorg is not necessary , is it true?

 

4. best practice documents on reorg , available on SAP Service market place or somone can share other documents?

 

5. time taken for reorg on large tables . ususally during  a maintenance window ,  (offline reorg).

   

any additional information that was missed above.

 

Please note this is not a list of questions, but a discussion to share work expriences around the reorg task.

COPAC_XXXX archiving object real time work

Hello ,

has any one worked on implementing the COPAC_xxxx archiving object?

 

Please do not provide SAP help, OSS notes or other documentation on tables etc.

 

I am looking for real time project implementation work done around this archive object.

 

Ex: what requirements to capture with process/functional teams to implement this object.

 

the assumption here is that , we need to identify unused profitability segments and archive them .

 

there is a program " RKREOCE4_EXTRACT" to first deactivate the unused profitability segments .

 

please provide only real time situations that some one has worked on this object.

Error for Structural changes to DSO after NLS Archiving in BW on HANA?

Hi,

 

We are currently on SAP BW 7.31 SP07 HANA SP07.

We have implemented NLS on SYBASE IQ 16.

 

We have tested the below Archiving scenarios and we are stuck up in some scenarios.

 

1. Created and Offloaded DAP Process successfully for DSO data to NLS IQ from BW.

2. Reloaded successfully Archived data from NLS IQ back to BW on HANA.

3. Now we have done changes in structure to the same DSO and then tried to Reactivate the DAP Process. The Reactivation process gave an error and the error log is attached below.

Kindly please guide me how to solve the above issue.

Critical Error during Archiving in OAWD transaction

Hi,

 

  We are getting an error in transaction OAWD while trying to archive documents using drag and drop. The error we are getting is 'Critical Error during archiving.The Archiving directory cannot be created. The archiving procedure will be aborted.

 

Pls. guide how we can fix this issue.

Fill Infostructure job is failing with HTTP 500 Internal error

Hi,

 

I have recreated the Archive infostructure SAP_SPL_AT in GTS system, as suggested in SAP Note 02016789, w.r.t to GTS System upgrade.

 

But when filling the structures through SARI, getting the below error.

 

For the session which has less data objects is getting filled without any issue. But for the archiving sessions which have huge data objects is failing with HTTP 500 Internal error.

Status of archiving files in SARI is showing as incomplete. Even tried by deleting the structure for the failed session, and filling it again. Getting the same error.

 

Please suggest how it can be rectified.

how to get files from SAP Content server to Open Text

Hi All,

 

Currently we are doing data archiving using SAP Content server. Now we installed OpenText archive server and going to move to OpenText data archiving.

 

We are now trying to migrate data that we archived previously through SAP Content server to content repository in OpenText Archive server.

 

We have tried retrieving all the files from SAP Content server storage back into SAP global exchange directory.

Also we have created new content repository on the OT environment and SAP.

 

Now the files cannot be selected to move further to OpenText  Content repository.

 

Please suggest solution to migrated all files that in SAP content server to OpenText archive server so that we can retrieve those old data in all respective SAP transactions.

Archive routing: No suitable content repository / logical file name found

Hi,

 

I have set up archiving routings - one per sales organisation for object SD_VBAK, as depending on the sales org, the files need to go to different repository. Then I created the variant for the archiving Write run, including 2 of the sales orgs, as these need to be archived in the same repository. But when I ran the "Write" run, I got the message: No suitable content repository / logical file name found.

Could you please advise:;

1. Is there a way to store more than one sales org in the Archigin routing, if the sales org numbers are not consecutive? For example sales orgs: 0010, 0230, 0450

2. If the answer ot p.1 is no, is it possible to have in the "Write" variant more than one sales orgs?

Deletion of Serial Number Profile with Serial Nos. already created

Good morning everyone,

 

I hope this is the right place to ask this question.

I'm trying to delete the serial number profile from a material that already has serial numbers created for it. The system doesn't allow that, so when I looked for solutions I found this thread describing the following steps:

 

  1. Set deletion flag for all concerned serial nos.
  2. Archive the serial number history using object PM_OBJLIST
  3. Archive the serial nos. themselves using PM_EQUI

 

I've done 1., but I'm failing to perform 2. I've never used the TA SARA before, so I might be dping something wrong here. I've entered the archiving object, then clicked "Write". I created the following variant (see screenshot) - all serial numbers that exist are contained within the same delivery and goods receipt document. However no matter how I set this up - entering only delivery, only GR doc, setting the "process control" indicator to any of the options - I end up with the message "Number of Written Data Objects 0" in the results of my archiving job. Therefore I have no data file to use for the "Delete" step of the archiving job. Am I doing something wrong here? Hope somebody can help me - thanks in advance!

I would like to see a document with details on BW reports built by SAP for ILM.(what are the Std reports available in ILM for sap bw related, where to find)

 

How the BW data can be archived to ILM , Procedure to archive the Bw data in retention warehouse.

ZARIXMM1 table growth - MM_MATBEL Archiving Object

Dear Experts,

 

We are archiving material documents for past few months. By archiving we were able to restrict the MSEG table growth, but the respective SAP AS table ZARIXMM1 growing rapidly and occupying nearly 800 GB.

 

Is there any way to handle the growth the ZARIX tables.

Data archiving and Number ranges

Hi,

 

how to ensure number ranges consistency after data archiving please? For example if data is archived and then number range is reset or changed, document with duplicate number can be created - correct? Is this problem? How to avoid it?


I am concerned about many archiving objects (MM_MATBEL, RL_TA, SD_VBAK, FI_DOCUMNT, ...), so this is general question. If there is no general answer, then I am interested in application specific answers as well.


I have found note "781802 - Resetting number ranges after archiving data". This note basically says that resetting of number ranges should not be done after archiving. Is this approach you do apply?

Data archiving: Storage Paths

Hi All,

 

I would like to know regarding the storage system mechanism for the archived file. From the technical books I understand that there is a need on storage interface like CMS\HSM\CS to store the files on external storage system.

However we donot want to use any interfaces to avoid license costs and other  configurations,complexity and extra job loads.

 

1.Hence our Idea is to consider an extra NAS\SAN disk and store all the files on to this NAS\SAN drive.May be I can get this disk mounted on to existing SAP running server but also want to check instead getting this disk mounted, I want to update the archive path (path to place the archive files when archive write jobs are triggered) with \\\server name (address for the NAS\SAN Disk). Is this method possible without using any storage interface.

 

2. The second question is if the archive files are written to drive D:\archive directory , can the archive files be moved to some other drive& directory in future. If it can be done what are those steps to be followed

 

3. We are using the ADK based archiving and this question is more about the way archive files are organised at OS level. Generally we update the file path for the archive file location. In the first time run, the archive job would create 100 file in this year. In the second run the next year , the job would create again some 100 files in the same directory as configured earlier because we don't change the path every year.End of second year in a single directory we will have 200 archive files.Imagining at the end of 4-5 years the directory would look so huge and clumsy? so is there any alternative for this instance?

Retrieval of Archived data in SAP?

Dear Expertise,

 

        I have archived data of sales order.Now, the data related to sales order is not showing in database. Now i wanted to retrieve this sales order.So could any one help me how to retrieve it.

 

I have one concern that whether the data related to that sale order will be seen in database after retrieving.

I have studied that i can display that deleted or archived data through different transactions or ways. and i have done that also.

But lastly , i wanted to know taht archived data must be stored somewhere in may be files ?

so, i wanted to retrieve that back in to database or into SAP.

will it be possible?

We are trying to activate ILM @ IDES ECC EHP6 ,however the error says the dependencies are not fulfilled.
